After completing the Online Readiness Course, when will the hold (restriction) be removed from my account so that I can register for online classes?

Once you have completed the Online Readiness Course (scoring an 80% or higher on the final assessment), the hold from your account will be removed within approximately 24 hours. 

Can I register for online classes without completing the Online Readiness Course?

No. The Online Readiness Course must be completed in advance of enrolling into any online courses. 

Do I have to complete the Online Readiness Course in one sitting?

You may complete the course in one sitting or come and go from the course – even over several days.  The modules you’ve completed will be saved, so you can pick up where you left off. 

How can I sign up for the Online Readiness Course?

The Online Readiness course is located on the PHSC website in the Canvas learning platform. You will access the Online Readiness Course by:

  1. Logging into myPHSC
  2. Going to Canvas
  3. Selecting the “Online Readiness at PHSC” course from your “Courses” menu. 
How do I access the Canvas learning platform?

Go to myPHSC student portal.  In Canvas, the Online Readiness Course can be found under the 'Courses' tab.

How long does it take to complete the Online Readiness Course?

It varies, of course, but you should be able to complete it in 2 hours. Completion of the Online Readiness course requires students to work through all five modules and obtain a score of 80% or higher on the final assessment. So, don’t just scan the information – it might be in a question at the end! 

If I complete the Online Readiness Course, but do not take an online course in the next semester, will I need to repeat the course?

No. The Online Readiness Course will meet the requirement for all future semesters.

Is the Online Readiness Course mandatory?

Yes, all students new to PHSC who want to take online courses are required to complete the Online Readiness course – even if the student has transfer credits and is not a first time in college student. The online readiness course is not required for students who are only taking on-campus courses. 

What if I don’t score 80% or higher on the final assessment?

You may take the assessment as many times as you need to reach the 80% required.  You may also go back into the course to review areas as needed.
